The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Spa Offers Family Fun

Pink Shell Beach Resort FloridaLocated on a gorgeous stretch of beachfront on the gulf side of Florida, the Pink Shell Beach Resort & Spa provides a casual resort spot that's especially well suited to families, thanks to a range of amenities in the rooms, as well as activities and kids' programs. Pink Shell also offers a spa, and several food and beverage venues.

Pink Shell is located at the northern point of Estero Island, just off the southwest Gulf Coast of Florida. Floridians can easily drive there, while others can fly into Southwest Florida Internation Airport, located 16 miles away. Taxi, limo and shuttle transfers are available for a supplementary fee.

There are 192 beachfront rooms, ranging from Gulf Front Studios (with two queen beds or one king bed) to the White Sands Villa building (one or two-bedroom suites, all of which feature screened patios). The new Captiva building offers 43 one-bedroom suites, each measusing more than 1,000 square feet and corner rooms have whirlpool tubs.

In a one-bedroom suite in the White Sands building, the living room and bedroom are oversized, and there is plenty of closet and drawer space, as well as plenty of storage space for the miscellaneous beach equipment.

Standard amenities in all rooms include, refrigerators, cooktops, toasters, microwave ovens, cable TV, clock radies, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards, in-room safes and even dishes and cookware. Non-smoking rooms are available upon request.

a marina dock. Use of the laundry room is free, as is use of a computer in the lobby with high-speed Internet access. The gift shop offers souvenirs as well as snacks and beverages. The lobby coffee cart sells Starbucks.

Since this is a family-oriented resort, it's appropriate that the hotel offers and extensive kids' activity program. There's a morning program three times a week for $35 per child. The Saturday evening program costs $45. It's for children ages 4 to 12, and activities include lunch or dinner, arts and crafts, beach and pool games, and fishing. Kids can also learn about the local flora and fauna from recreation professionals.
